Heelys: Not Just for Kids?

My Heelys - Wave style
Pretty much everyone has heard of Heelys - the shoes with a wheel in the heel. I've seen kids whizzing by in the store with them and thought "that doesn't look hard at all!" So when I was offered the opportunity to try a pair of Heelys for adults, I jumped at it.

I should let you know that I am pretty uncoordinated and clumsy. I'm sure my husband was wondering why I thought shoes with wheels was a good idea for me. But I felt up for the challenge. And well, challenge it turned out to be. I got the gray and pink Heelys and absolutely love their look. They are so cute and girly! They are also incredibly comfortable. The wheel is removable and they come with "plugs" so you can wear them as regular shoes without the wheels.

I first tried the Heelys in the house. Holding onto the kitchen counters and rolling on the tile floor, I realized this is harder than it looks! I've gotten more fearful of things, like falling on my butt or breaking something, so I'm sure that played into my lack of ability. My kitchen proved too small to really be able to try them out so I braved the store. I wore them grocery shopping, using the shopping cart for stability. Even after a few public attempts, always with a shopping cart or stroller, I am still unable to whiz around. The best I've managed is rolling on one wheel while clinging to the cart in front of me.

Even though I haven't been successful so far at really using the Heelys to their full capability, I love the shoes. I'm sure I'll watch the how-to videos again and keep practicing. Maybe one day I'll be able to prove to my kids that I can do this!

If you are one of your kids would like a pair of Heelys, you're in luck! Heelys is throwing a Black Friday special!! Between Nov 25-Nov 28, Buy any pair of Heelys, get the second pair for $25. Or buy a Nano, and get a pair of shoes for $25, and get free ground shipping on all orders!

Overall, I'm very satisfied with my Heelys and look forward to practicing until I get it.

I was provided a pair of Heelys at no cost by Heelys and B2B. I was not compensated for this review. All opinions are my own.
