CVS ExtraCare Cards ~ How many?
Every CVS shopper knows that the key to saving money at CVS is the ExtraCare Card needed to get Extra Care Bucks (ECBs). There has been some confusion about how many cards you can have per person, per household, etc. I personally only have one card because I only need one set of deals. Sure, I've love to be able to do the money-maker deals more than once, but I've found that the local CVS stores have a hard enough time keeping enough stock for those items without me going in and doing each deal two or three times.
So in light of all this confusion, I was excited to run across some information today at weusecoupons.com about ExtraCare Cards. Here's what I found:
So Didie and I have been talking about this as feelings(and sometimes answers at the stores) are mixed on whether or not you can have more than one card per household.
We have both called and confirmed this with THREE different people(Bill, Heidi, and Liz) with CVS customer service today alone and this is what I was told by Bill. I am quoting as best I am able to remember:
"One card per household, to be shared by those living within that household. The only exceptions are when two households live under one roof(example: your sister and her husand share a home with you, you live with your mother and father, etc), those people may have a seperate extracare account of their own, but each household is limited to one card. You should only use your household's extracare card."
If anyone would like to confirm these rules with CVS Corporate please call 1-800-746-7287 and give them incident (reference) number 325057. I spoke with an individual named Bill this morning and he was very kind and very informative.
Thanks so much to jleonard2004 and Didie over at CVS Deals on WeUseCoupons for bringing some clarity to this confusing issue!

CVS trip 11/14 - second trip
I had a $7 ECBs expired 11/16 so I needed to try and spend it. I noticed that even though the ad said the Freestyle was a Limit 1, my receipt showed that I needed 1 to reach the limit. I guess because it was a deal last week also?? It worked out perfect for me to "roll" my $7 ECBs.

The ECBs didn't print for this one so I wasn't sure if the one I picked up was included. I went back and asked about it and he manually printed it. It printed for $2 ECBs because according to him, if they manually print ECBs, it automatically rounds it up. Score!
Earned $2 ECBs

$3.49 each
Earned $3 ECBs
(1) Freestyle Lite monitor $14.99 each, earn $5 ECBs

Earned $12 ECBs. Final cost $3.35!
I lost $1 ECB because of the $1 coupon that didn't get scanned, but I've had other trips where a coupon was scanned twice so I'm not complaining. The body wash, cereal, fiber bars and blistex are for us and the monitor and deodorant are to donate.

Walgreens trip 11/9
There wasn't much at Walgreens this week that I was excited about. I did want to try and pick up some free toothbrushes, but so far out of 3 stores, I have only been able to find one. I went ahead and used all my coupons to get free floss. The baking powder was on sale also and even though I was disappointed that the printable $.75/1 coupon wouldn't work with this size, it was still a decent price.
Also, I picked up another One Touch Delica lancet device. These are on sale at CVS and Walgreens this month for $19.99 each. Use the "No Charge to you, free One Touch Delica lancing device ( up to $19.99)" from the 10/31 SS to get it completely free! I plan on using all of my coupons and donating them. Similac formula is on price cut for $3.84 each. I had $3/1 printable coupons and a $5 check from the mail. I got all 3 bottles for $.52!
I had a few more Bumblebee tuna coupons to use, but unfortunately the price went up to $.78 each. I got 6 pouches for $1.38 or $.23 each!
The Maruchan Yakisoba meals are on price cut for $.48 each and there is a $.50/1 any Maruchan Yakisoba in the 10/10 SS. I got $.24 overage for buying 12!
I also bought a 20 oz. Mountain Dew. I spent $3.25 after tax for everything!

Publix trip 11/6
The new Green Advantage Flyer started Saturday and I was there to pick up some more money-making Vitamin D. I found 4 bottles and was able to get $5.04 in overage! I wasn't sure what to buy since I had done my main shopping for the week so I settled on meat. I found a whole chicken on sale that was $5.52. I paid a total of $.48 OOP for all 5 items! That's approximately 97% savings!
Publix trip 11/4 - second trip, second store
I made a second trip to Publix to pick up some more cookie mix (thanks to my sister for sharing her coupons!) and a few more of the money-maker Rubbermaid containers. I didn't snap a picture so here's what I got.
(1) Publix brand tylenol
(6) small Rubbermaid containers
(2) Schick Intuition razors (I happened to see these BOGO and I still had two $4/1 coupons from Facebook)
(12) Krusteaz cookie mix
Total paid $5.23 (after tax) for $63.59 of stuff! 93% savings!

Publix trip 11/4
I shopped Publix Thursday morning and ended up doing a little better than planned! I love when things end up being less at my store than the sneak peek ad lists. I was able to get 10 bottles of juice ($.63 each!) and 10 boxes of cookie mix ($.10 each!) without clearing the shelves. There is nothing more frustrating then showing up for a big sale only to find that someone has already cleaned the shelves. That's one big reason for my midnight CVS and Wags trips. I try to only buy what we will use or I will be able to donate. The juice will be used for the Awana Club at my church and the cookie mixes will be a great donation item with the upcoming holidays.
I had $65.90 in coupons, including a $5/$50 from the weekly mailer ad.
Total paid $21.96 (after tax) for $164.37 in groceries! I saved 87% this trip!!

Walgreens trip 10/31 - second trip
Later in the day, I made two more stops at two different Walgreens. I ended up doing better than I planned due to cashier error. It was actually a supervisor and cashier who both overlooked the fact that one of my items didn't ring up. I didn't realize it until hours later when I was looking at my receipt trying to figure out why the RR didn't print and it had to be printed manually.
Transaction #1
(3) Purina One pet food (2 dog, 1 cat) $1.99 each
- $2/1 Purina One dog/cat food 10/17 SS
$.03 overage - the last coupon did beep, but the cashier did an override without questioning it
(5) Olay body wash $3.74 each, spend $30, earn $10 RR
$.04 overage (should have paid $3.70 or $.74 each)
Earned $10 RR
(3) Secret deodorant $3.99 each
(1) Studio fingernail polish remover $.99 each after in-ad coupon
Total paid $6 RR, total paid $7.77 OOP
Earned $10 RR
(5) Olay body wash $3.74 each, spend $30, earn $10 RR
- $5/1 Olay body wash WYB any Secret product 10/31 P&G
Here's where the mess-up happened. I bought (5) so that my total for the body washes would be $18.70 and I could use (3) $5 coupons without having anything beep. She only rang up (4) and still used the (3) coupons for $15 off. Because she didn't ring up the last one, my total was also under $30 causing my RR to not print. She called a supervisor who looked at my receipt and then manually printed me the $10 RR. He didn't bother to add it up or make sure that everything got rang up.$.04 overage (should have paid $3.70 or $.74 each)
Earned $10 RR
(3) Secret deodorant $3.99 each
- $.50/1 any Secret deodorant, excludes trial size 9/26 P&G
$3.49 each (not a great price by itself, but combined with the body wash and RR deal, it worked out)(1) Studio fingernail polish remover $.99 each after in-ad coupon
Total paid $6 RR, total paid $7.77 OOP
Earned $10 RR
Transaction #2
(10) Purina One cat food $1.99 each
(10) Purina One cat food $1.99 each
- $2/1 Purina One cat food 10/17 SS
$.10 overage - the last coupon beeped, I was told that they couldn't adjust the coupon, then she rang up the Sinex and scanned the last cat food coupon again and it came off without beeping. Very confusing and it took me about 15 minutes to check out!
(2) Vicks Sinex 2/$10, earn $5 RR
- $4/1 any Vicks Sinex product 10/10 P&G
$2 total
Earned $5 RR
(1) M&M 1.5oz Single $.59 each (this was my filler so I could use my $1 RR. Lesson learned: it makes no sense at all to spend $.59 to save $1. I would have been better off paying more OOP and saving my $1 RR.)
Total paid $1 RR, total paid $2.93 OOP
Earned $5 RR
Total paid OOP was $10.70, used $7 RR, and left with $15 RR!
Cost was $2.70 for everything in both trips!
